The Easy, Effortless Summer Outfit....

Style Theory: Sometimes all you need is a brightly coloured top and a pair of beautifully tailored trousers to create a simple, elegant outfit. Add a pair of gold shoes for a touch of added sparkle...

Top: Topshop £32
Trousers: Me+Em now £85 - similar here
Shoes: Gucci £530
Bag: Radley similar here
Name Necklace: Anna Lou of London £52

I do love the colour of this Topshop top, it is a beautiful rich shade of pink and the colour reflects against the skin giving a luminosity which, to be honest, I need right now! The top does not ping up the moment you move and sits at a flattering height across the chest with the sleeves doing a perfect job of covering the tops of my arms. I know I have waxed lyrical about these Me+Em trousers before but I just adore them, yes they are on the pricey side but they are the most flattering trousers I have ever worn and I have worn them non stop, they do not bag or lose their shape and skim all lumps and bumps. A really easy, non fussy outfit that looks like you have made a lot more effort than you really have..

For my selection of my favourite off the shoulder tops and lots of ideas how to style, check out my style article @GoodHousekeepingUK

I am off to Barcelona in the morning to help with my sister's Rooftop Cream Tea (I should imagine I will be more pouring tea than anything else my baking isn't up to much!) but I am looking forward to some serious sun and chilled wine..
See you when I get back, in the meantime I will be on Instagram @TheFashion_Lift

New Season Items to buy now...

images via Pinterest
Style Theory: There is nothing more exciting for me than a new season, I love seeing fresh cuts, shape and colours, and deciphering which designers have inspired the high street and the styles I will wearing in the next few months.

I am not talking Autumn and Winter clothes here, more transitional summer that can also be layered up and worn in the colder months. I like trying to make my clothes work, wherever possible, all year through so I can guarantee I get my money's worth out of them...I haven't quite nailed this as yet but am trying..

Today I am starting with Topshop here are the new season items that have caught my eye so far and are on my shopping list..
Topshop Boutique Drape Funnel Top £58
A little more expensive than normal Topshop tops but this had the edge, a cool design, will look amazing now with skinny ankle length jeans and tan sandals, in the winter wear with jeans, boots and a biker,
Topshop Jersey Ruffle Sweatshirt £30
Buy now, wear now with denim shorts and stan smith trainers, wear in the winter with sports luxe tailored trousers and heels..heaven!!
Topshop Boutique Leather Funnel Neck Top £130
Again slightly expensive but a real stunning item, I saw this in the Topshop Oxford St branch and it is stunning, butter soft leather and the most beautiful muted shade of pink.
Topshop Sleeveless Ruffled Stripe Shirt £30
Because stripes and ruffles are always a good idea, this top looks designer-esque for a fraction of the price. Again, will look fab with jeans cropped at the ankle and tan sandals. In the winter wear with a navy blazer and dark bell bottom jeans and heels.
Topshop Lace Trim Cami Top £28
The lingerie trend is going no where fast so it is worth investing in a lacy camisole, they look fab under long fine cardigans or a blazer. Balance out the girliness and pair with jeans and trainers..
Topshop Stepped Hen Straight Jeans £42
It is all about the stepped hem jean at the moment, they are a modern twist on the skinny or straight jean, they will work just as well with ankle boots in the winter as they will with sandals now.
Topshop Camo Shackett £45
A camo shackett literally goes with everything jeans, shorts, dresses, your one-stop shop jacket!
Topshop Mid Ankle Boots £82
I am after a pair of cream/beige leather boots for next season and these will do nicely! I can't really do dresses and boots (my legs are too chunky) but I love these with cropped jeans above a white Victoriana sleevless blouse - or the leather pink top, or drapey top above..
Topshop Kylie Backless Loafer £49
Love these little Gucci-esque beauties (I have ordered them) they are stunning and at a far more palatable price than the Guccis!

Looking at my selection above I am veering towards a muted transitional wardrobe of pale pinks, greys and reds...with frill and drape details..adore these shapes and colours..

Are you thinking about buying now for the rest of the year or are you fully immersed in summer wear? I am off to see my sister in Barcelona this weekend which I am so excited about and will no doubt remind me off what you need to wear when it is hot and sunny (which I think it will be here on Sunday..woohoo!!)
As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time Fran xxxx

The Ever Reliable and Versatile Denim Dress

Images via Pinterest
Style Theory: The denim dress, a real summer must-have, it is the kind of dress that you can keep for years and years as the more you wear it the better it looks. I never tire of wearing mine in the summer months, they are perfect for this crazy UK weather and equally are a great item to wear on evening strolls on holiday. This year pretty much any style goes, from patchwork to button through from mini to maxi...
MiH Jeans Denim Dress £275
Super expensive but just look at those sleeves and the detail on the top, love this. I bought one similar from Whistles just after I had my son and it was perfect post baby wear, super comfy and hid my huge tummy! This would look fab with the wedge espadrilles or flat tan sandals in the summer.
Asos Denim Shift Dress with Cold Shoulder Ruffle £42
A current update to the denim dress, these cold shoulders dresses are surprisingly flattering, defintely worth giving a go.
River Island Patchwork Dress £42
It has taken me a little while to warm to the patchwork trend but now I am fully onboard, it looks slightly edgy but is also practical with denim patchwork being incredibly robust. This dress is quite heavy denim so hangs gorgeously, almost slightly stiff so it covers every lump and bump. Pair with trainers, sandals or wedge heels. It came to just below my knees (I am 5ft3) so it is not as scarily short as it looks on this super tall model.
Topshop Maxi Shirt Dress £45
Such a easy dress to throw on, it is great if you are not mad on your legs, for a bit of definition I would tie a camo shackett around the waist and leave the top few buttons undone. Just add a pair of tan sandals for an easy summer look.
See by Chloe @Very Exclusive UK reduced to £144.50
This is quite a thick denim, not really heavy just quite structured so it skims over all lumps and bumps. It is an investment piece but such a classic style that it will see you through from summer to winter.
Warehouse £45
Another great 'throw on' dress. I have tried this dress on and it looks great, so understated, again I would undo the top buttons to make it look more slouchy.
Warehouse reduced to £35
Very Stella McCartney, this is a super stylish denim dress, it would look gorgeous styled as the street style photo above with a neck tie and espadrilles for a real 2016 look.
Warehouse £45
The perfect shift dress with a flattering ruffle detail on the shoulder, cute with a little sass.
Zara £29.99
A light, summer dress, perfect for warm holiday days..
Cos Store £79
A gorgeous twist on the basic denim dress, the twisted top and curved hem are beautiful design details that adds interest.

My Style
I bought this Levis denim dress a few years ago and wear it in both the winter with opaque tights and boots and in the summer with bare legs and sandals. I love the cape shoulder detail and it is my 'go to' dress when I want to wear something easy, flattering and practical.

Dress - Levis
Shoes - Zara
Bag - Spain
Do you grab your denim dress out of the wardrobe year after year, season after seson, which style is your favourite? As always I would love to hear you thoughts and comments, until next time Fran xxx

One Bomber - Three Ways

Style Theory: The luxe bomber is so hot right now, however, it is definitely not a classic item, a wardrobe staple that you will have in your wardrobe for years to come. I like to dip into these trends to update my looks and make them relevant but I always make sure first, they are not a big investment piece and secondly, I get lots of wear out of them

So with this in mind Good Housekeeping asked me to write a feature of how to style the bomber in three ways, casual, evening out and smart/work. Here is how I styled my Zara bomber (link to the feature at the bottom of this blog post)...

Casual
The key is to keep your outfit underneath simple and let the jacket do the talking.

Bomber Jacket - Zara £59.99Sleeveless Crochet Blouse - Topshop £38Relaxed Fit mid rise Jeans - Zara £29.99Trainers - Superga Platform Trainers
Bag - (Spain) love this one

I love this Topshop top, it has an open back so normally I would wear a white vest top underneath but on holiday I will wear over a bikini with denim shorts and flat tan sandals for a beach look.

Evening out
As you may have guessed I am slightly obsessed with tulle skirts. I love the way the bomber juxtaposes with the girliness of the skirt making it look less frou frou. I am wearing my H&M body underneath the bomber, it works well as it smooth under the skirt avoiding any lumps or bumps..

Bomber Jacket - Zara £59.99
Body Top (not seen) - H&M £7.49
Tulle Skirt - Zara £29.99 (new in store)
Shoes - Old season - love these ones
Bag - Gucci Soho Disco £650

Smart
To update a day to day, smart look, throw your bomber over a blouse (I love pairing a dark red top with this bomber it brings out the embroidery) add a pair of plain black trousers and you instantly breathe life into a classic work outfit. Add a structured handbag to smarten up the slouchy jacket and you have a cool, practical look.

Bomber Jacket - Zara £59.99
Red Blouse - H&M £14.99
Trousers - Topshop £22
Bag - Kenzo £207

The luxe bomber is such an easy jacket to throw on and makes a big impact to your look, the perfect fashion 'lift' for your wardrobe.

Here's the Good Housekeeping feature http://www.goodhousekeeping.co.uk/fashion-beauty/style-advice/how-to-wear-a-bomber-jacket

Now if the weather clears up I would really like to get on to the subject of high summer clothes! Are you a fan of the bomber, what jacket have you been wearing this summer? As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time Fran xxx
