The Best AW16 Ankle Boots

All photos above via Pinterest
Style Theory: After a beautiful long summer it's time to turn our attention to Autumn/Winter wear. I must admit I prefer A/W clothing, the cosy knitwear, cool new shapes of jeans and ankle boots. This season ankle boots are big and come in so many guises, from ornate heels to metallic sheens, huge buckles to cowboy details..anything goes. There are some absolute beauties out there and they look just as good with dresses as they do with ankle length cropped jeans. They are slightly more 90-ish in their appearance, heavier, chunkier heels than the last the last few season that actual are flattering on your leg. Ankle boots are going to get chunkier and chunkier over the next season so this is just the beginning...

To start with my dream pair...
Gucci @Net A Porter £725
These are the dream boots, I must admit I am a sucker for a double G and these to me are Italian beauties. The price not so much, so here are a few more palatably priced similar Gucci-esque boots..
Topshop £82
These look a pretty good option and a fraction of the price, the heel looks pretty walkable in too.
Topshop £82
My favourite colour of boot, these would look amazing clashed with a yellow coat for a pure fashion forward AW16 look. Add a pair of ankle length cropped blue jeans and a slouchy navy blouse...love love this look.
Topshop £82
And of course I couldn't leave out the gold boots, keep the rest of your outfit simple and let the boots do the talking..
Topshop £82
A basic boot with a twist, make like the street style photo above and keep your look sleep and simple, a pair of jeans, a cashmere jumper but remember to match your the silver heel to silver hardware on your bag.
Topshop £79
I bought these boots last year and lived in them, they are really comfy and sit beautifully under crop kick flared jeans or trousers and will also look fab with maxi and midi dresses.
Office £82
If you, like me, have been yearning for a pair of Chloe Susannah's for ever..these are the best 'tributes' I have seen so far, they come in tan, white and black suede..haven's seen black leather as yet? I must admit I have a soft spot for the red after seeing them on Sienna Miller above a few years ago.
Senso boots @Very Exclusive UK £120
The boot of the season, these boots are very 'of the moment' they wont last you a life time but they are the kind of fashion item that is worth getting and then wearing to death (weather permitting - not great for UK rain obvs!) I have tried these on and am utterly obsessed, they are incredibly comfortable, stop at a flattering part of the leg and just look great on with dresses or jeans.
Just Cavalli @Very Exclusive £370
So out of my price range slightly but just spotted these and had to include them, I love them, they are the perfect length for dresses and look super chic on.
Daisy Street @Asos £34.99
Weirdly smitten with these boots they aren't leather so not sure how they would be in real life but they have all the components I am after this season, snakeskin, cowboy shape and a touch of dark red..
Clarks £95
Comfy snakeskin option from Clarks.
Mango £89.99
The buckle detail on these boots are so eyecatching, think I may have to invest in these.
Sam Edelman £140
If you are after this season's embroidered boots, these are the best I have seen. The cut (low) at the front is incredibly flattering on legs and the colours are chic and muted, showstoppers with class.
Boden £120
These are, so far, my favourite leopard print boots, they are animal print on cowhide and are a fab shape.

I have covered quite a range of themes there, these are my favourites from each theme. They are all 'dressier' boots and I will be writing a blog post next week with the best schoolrun/weekend boots ie: robust & waterproof but still look good.

In the meantime I am gazing longingly at the Guccis and Cavalli's and most probably ordering the Topshops and Asos ones!

Which ankle boots are catching your eye this season? As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time Fran xxx

The Best going Out, Out Tops without looking like you are trying toohard!

All images via Pinterest
Style Theory: I am a huge fan of dressing down a dressed up look, when going out for the evening whether it is to dinner with the husband, to a bar with friends or to the village pub, jeans and metallic heels are my this season go to. However I do like a 'dressy' top, not too crazy but a little different to what I would wear in the daytime, I love a touch of shimmer, frills or interesting details but most of all I like to be comfortable meaning the top must not be too clingy or tight.

Here are my favourite tops on the high street now..
Topshop £34

Topshop £34
The ruffle detail on these two tops looks fab, they are quite short so wear with high waisted jeans/trousers or pop a vest top or body underneath.
Cos £69
This is the perfect top of you are conscious of your tummy, it skims over a tummy but fits beautifully across shoulders and arms.Pair with skinny jeans and strappy heels for a cool look.
River Island £50
I love a touch of shimmer and this top has sparkle and more, dress down with a pair of distressed jeans and heels.
Asos £36
Slightly more out there with frills and florals, for the braver of us, but this top is beautiful so Gucci-esque without the price tag. pair with boyfriend jeans and black heels.
Mango £19.99
A fab basic top that you can mix and match with everything. Keep things simple with this top tucked in to distressed jeans add a pair of velvet, jewel coloured heels, a dark red or green would look spectacular.
H&M £29.99
Love this top, it looks fab on..

H&M £29.99

Self Portrait @Asos £220
The dream top, super expensive but beautiful on, lace and victoriana heaven.

The Logo Sweater - How do you wear Yours?...

Style Theory: The logo sweater, now a wardrobe staple. It can be styled with everything from skinny jeans and trainers to net skirts and heels. The perfect item in your wardrobe to balance out a 'dressy' look, add a colour pop or just look a little on trend when on the schoolrun.

The new Hades sweaters are my faves, they are the new logo sweaters on the block. Not quite as pricey as Bella Freud sweaters but just as cool. They are 100% scottish wool and are warm, super warm. With logos such as The Smiths, The Slits (to be honest have no idea who they are?!) and Patti Smith they give you some cool kudos (although I was berated by my cool little sister.."Like.., do you actually know who any of these people are?" - yep with the help of google I do!)
They look great paired with this season's must have the metallic pleated skirt, but will look just as good with jeans and wellies on a country walk...

Logo sweaters are here to stay for a while, the question is what logo will you choose? Here are the best on the high street now...

Are you a fan of the logo sweater, do you have a few in your wardrobe, how do you wear yours?! As always I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, until next time Fran xxx

Embroidery Obsession

Style Theory: You may have noticed I am slightly embroidery obsessed, big bold embroidery is looking good this season. At the top of the embroidery pile is my Ukraine-esque Zara dress, big billowing, so comfortable and will look just as good with tan 70s style boots in the winter as it does with sandals in the summer.

I am loving embroidery on things high street at the moment..second on my list is this stunning New Look denim jacket

Keep everything else simple with this jacket - black jeans, a breton and trainers would look fab.

I have been obsessed with this top since I saw it worn by the lovely Alex from The Frugality. It knocks all the other embroidered tops out the park, it is pricey but it one of those tops I would wear summer after summer.

These statement shoes look so D&G, keep the rest of your outfit plain..and let the shoes do the talking. They would look fab with boyfriend jeans and a black blouse or wear with a black dress for a true D&G look.

These really caught my eye at the Miss Selfridges press day earlier this year. They look fab in real life and would look great with a ankle length denim jeans and a breton to clash it up a bit!

For me, embroidery is a trend to dip into but not go mad and buy too many pieces, less is more and just pick a really good piece to add some interest to your existing wardrobe.
